Directions to the Church

The Faith Community Church was born in the hearts of three families that began to meet for Bible study around the kitchen table in the home of Terry and Kay Dorsett in the summer of 2004. Feeling led of the Holy Spirit to form a new church in the Barre area, they began Sunday morning worship services at the Hollow Inn on the second Sunday of September 2005. The church is affiliated with the Baptist denomination but welcomes anyone who desires to worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth regardless of their religious affiliation, or lack thereof.

Our pastor also serves as the Director of the Green Mountain Baptist Association. In that role he helps plant new churches across Vermont and also helps existing churches become stronger. This requires him to be gone two Sundays a month speaking in other churches across the state. Our church has a unique arrangement with the Baptist convention which allows us to employ a second pastor to assist in leading the church. This second pastor stays for a period of two years and then goes out to begin a new church somewhere else in Vermont. Through this arrangement the church has adequate pastoral leadership and the church is blessed to be able to help start new churches across the state.

If you are interested in learning more about the church or in applying for membership in our church, there are membership manuals and applications on the table near the Prayer Room.

Our church cares about helping as many people as possible hear the Good News of Godís love. Because of this we give away a large portion of our offerings each month.

We support the following mission efforts on a regular basis:

  • Green Mountain Baptist Association (5% of our offerings)
Formed in 1982, this organization helps strengthen and multply churches across Vermont. They help churches repairs their buildings, provide programming for children and teens and train pastors to be more effective in serving their community.

  • Baptist Convention of New England/Southern Baptist Convention (5% of our offerings)
Formed in 1983, the BCNE is the regional affiliate of our national denomination (Southern Baptist Covention). Our gift to this ministry is used to support 10,000 missionaries serving around the world.

  • CareNet Pregnancy Services (1% of our offerings)
This ministry helps young moms experiencing unexpected pregnancies. They seek to help these young ladies make informed godly choices about raising the child or placing it for adoption.

  • Open Door Soup Kitchen (1% of our offerings)
This ministry feeds over 4000 hot meals each year to the poor and needy in Barre.

  • Special Projects (5% of our offerings)
We help fund a variety of mission efforts and special projects during the year as we become aware of them.
